Books of Condolence open for Her Majesty the Queen

Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, many Books of Condolences have been opened in towns and villages across our area to allow local people to pay tribute.
 
In Goole a Book of Condolences has been opened at St Johns Parish Church, which will be open until 4pm today (Friday, September 9) for people to visit, light a candle, pray and sign the book. 
 
Snaith and Cowick Town Council have also announced that a book of condolences has been opened in Snaith and an area at Buttermarket has also been designated to allow people to lay flowers. 
The book of condolences will be situated between the Snaith Town Council offices and Snaith Priory Church. The full list of times that the book will be available is viewable on the Snaith Town Council Facebook page. 
 
In Howden a Book of Condolence has been opened at Howden Minster for those who wish to pay their respects, while an area at the old pavilion site at the Ashes Playing Field has also been designated as the official area for anybody wishing to lay flowers.
 
The following statement has been made by Cllr. Ross Turner, Mayor of Goole, Brian Robertson, Goole Town Clerk, and Stacey Norfolk, Deputy Town Clerk share in the following statement: "On behalf of Goole Town Council and its staff, we would like to offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to His Majesty, King Charles lll and the rest of the Royal Family on the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty’s selfless commitment and dedication of life to public service is and will always remain an inspiration to us all."
A Book of Condolence will be opened at Junction for those who wish to pay their respects, anybody wishing to lay flowers may do so at the Cenotaph on Boothferry Road.
The Mayor will lay flowers on Friday 9th September at 1.30pm.
Flags will be flown at half mast until the Proclamation is made which will be at 11am, Saturday 10 September 2022. The flag will then be raised until Sunday at 1pm, and then be lowered to half mast for the official 10 days of mourning.
A reading of the Proclamation by the Mayor of Goole will take place at the Cenotaph, Goole on Sunday 11 September at 2pm.

Tuesday 20 September: 9am – 5pm; Junction
 
A Remembrance Service will take place on Thursday 15 September at 10.15am at St John’s (Parish) Church, Goole.
 
A commemorative service will be held at 6pm on Sunday 18 September at St John’s (Parish) Church.
 
Following the sad news, the Goole Times will be running a special feature in next Thursday’s paper in her memory.
